Steve Bell
Steve Bell has been involved with soccer at the youth, high school, college, professional and International level. He has experience as a player, coach, referee and television broadcaster. Steve is the Hoover High School Junior Varsity Soccer Coach and also coaches the U14 Traveling Vikings Boys Team for NCSC. His passion is making the game fun for younger players. Steve lives in North Canton with his wife Tina and their 3 children (Jillian, Natalie and JT).
Maddie Klingshirn
Maddie Klingshirn is a teacher at Hoover High School. Throughout undergrad, she played soccer for the University of Mount Union and served as team captain her senior year. While playing in college, she also assisted with summer youth programs. Maddie’s official coaching career started with the North Canton Soccer Club in the fall 2020 season. Though she is fairly new to coaching, she looks forward to working with kids who share the same passion for soccer as she does. Maddie coaches alongside Brian Girdlestone on all of the Traveling Vikings Girls Teams.
Michael Farmer
Michael Farmer spent 12 years as the assistant Varsity Coach for Firestone High School in Akron before retiring to coach for North Canton Soccer Club. Michael is also a certified referee officiating college and amateur games. He serves on the State Referee Committee and is an instructor and assessor. Michael and his wife, Lauren, live in North Canton with their daughters, Giselle and Scarlett. Outside of soccer, he is a local pastor in The United Methodist Church and enjoys watching his daughters dance at On Pointe Arts. Michael coaches one of the U11/U12 Traveling Vikings Boys Teams.
Peter Vandervaart
Pete Vandervaart has coached for Hoover High School, Strikers soccer club and CAK. Pete is a graduate of Hoover High school was a four year letter winner, three time all country and federal league goalkeeper. His senior year, he set records for shutouts and goals against average. He is a graduate of Purdue with an engineering degree currently working at M.K. Morris in Canton. He resides in North Canton with wife Laura and three children, Claire, Grace and Jake. Pete is the coach of the U10 Traveling Vikings Boys Team.
Alex Bodenschatz
Alex Bodenschatz is entering his second year as a soccer coach. He graduated from Hoover High School in 2014 and was a 3-year varsity letterman for the soccer program. He has also been a soccer referee for nearly 12 years and has officiated in multiple leagues across Northeastern Ohio. Post high school, Alex graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Digital Media Productions and a minor in Nonprofit Management. Following college, he served 2 years as a missionary with NET Ministries. Alex is excited to share his experience as a player, official, and coach with your child this season. Alex coaches one of the U11/U12 Traveling Vikings Boys Teams.
